Josh White is the General Manager of Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability at the City of Vancouver, a role he has held since May 2024. Previously serving as Director and Co-Chief Planner at the City of Calgary, he led the adoption of a new housing strategy, oversaw strategic growth and infrastructure planning during a period of extraordinary population growth, and transformed the city’s development approvals system into one of the most efficient in Canada.

Josh holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Queen’s University and began his career in the private sector. His work centers on housing supply and affordability, streamlined land-use permitting, and intentional city building as the foundation of a livable, inclusive city.
