Ovation by Domus Homes with Richard Wittstock

Ovation by Domus Homes sets a new standard for urban living in the thriving downtown core of New Westminster, easily one of Metro Vancouver’s most interesting and walkable neighborhoods chock full of shops, restaurants, theatres, and the popular waterfront boardwalk. This 32 storey architectural landmark features 204 homes and is characterized by its unceasing attention to detail, efficient and attractively planned 1-, 2-, & 3-bedroom homes, and the 32nd floor Stage 8 Sky Club that rivals any building amenities in the Lower Mainland. Its proximity to Skytrain adds convenience and connectivity – with easy trips to Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Surrey – but the fact is you will likely never want to leave!

Episode Summary

Tell us a little about the project

We are very proud of this project. The location is unmatched, directly across from the New Westminster skytrain station in New Westminster. It has a walk score of approx. 95, with 3 major shopping facilities all in a 2-block radius (shops at new west station, Columbia square mall, the river market). The project is also steps to Columbia street that is known for great entertainment and restaurants. The area has interesting topography, great river views and the infrastructure is incredible.

Can you tell us more about the building?

The condominium tower is 32 floors, 204 units. A great mix of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units. There are 3 bedroom two-level city homes with large balconies that are great for families. New Westminster is a modern, dense city and this is something this project embraces. We have a children’s play area for families to enjoy. The one bedroom units have efficient floorplans with large dens that can also function as a guest room. The 2 bedrooms are large with nice water views, 850-950 sq.ft., ranging in price from mid $600 to mid $800’s.

Is the building attracting more end-users or investors?

We are getting a good mix of both end users and investors. Generally, Domus Homes designs projects with the end user in mind, but there is always a component of people buying for their kids, for rental or for future downsizing. We are also seeing a large amount of first time home buyers being attracted to this project, which is nice to see. Domus homes spends a lot of time obsessing over floor plans to ensure the building is as livable as possible.

Tell us about Domus Homes?

Domus Homes was founded by myself and 2 other partners that merged our development and construction companies together to combine our skills and build a market leading development company. I am most proud of the outstanding team we have built that are instrumental in bringing these projects to life.

What can we expect in terms of prices and completion date?

Completion date is expected for spring/summer 2022. One bedrooms are low $400’s, two bedrooms starting in the mid $600’s and three bedrooms in the $800’s to $900’s range.

Can you speak to the amenities in the building?

The amenities are unique. The full top floor will include 8,000 sq.ft. of amenities, including a fitness area, lounge, games, hot tub with pool and a putting green. The idea was to have a place that all owners in the building could enjoy the nice views and amazing amenities.

If someone is on the fence, why should they buy at Ovation?

As I mentioned, the location is 2nd to none. The product is uncompromised for quality. We have large kitchens with quality appliances, a 5-burner stove – very high end. The layouts are thoughtfully planned out and the architecture is beautiful. The city design panel called the project the most elegant and composed proposal they had seen in the city of New Westminster in 15 years. The value is outstanding if you compare to other buildings in inferior locations. You just can’t beat it.
